Unless I'm completely mistaken as to how the sim is calculating the angles, it's a matter of substituting the bearing-to-bogie value (already calculated and displayed on the VSD) for the player a/c heading in the formula being used.Ĭompatibility with the Windows Vista Operating System. Sure would be nice to include the fix in a patch. The complete thread is here: ATTN: F-15 Drivers: Aspect Angle ?. Rather it displays the DTG (Degrees-to-go): Aspect Angle Fix. But the overall behavior of ARHs in general seems very realistic.Īs it currently exists in FC 1.12, the VSD does not display the Aspect Angle. The R-77 is also as common as dirt, also unrealistic. The R-77 in Falcon is an Aim-120 painted red, which isn't realistic. Isn't this exactly what gets discussed to death about the Aim-120? No launch warning? A RWR spike at the last minute when it goes active, and at that point, futility in avoiding it? Once you get that RWR contact, you had better start thinking about notching the bandit or dragging the missile immediately. You have to really work to try and get a first launch or remain undetected. Spoofing or shakeing either one of those at that point is very, very, VERY difficult. Once you get the warning that the missile has gone active and is now homing in on you.you be dead. If you do nothing at the time, you're chances of survival are not great. In reality you've just been bugged and you probably have an R-77 or slammer coming your way. Whatever it is, its brief and quite unassuming. As far as ARH missiles go, since thats what started this, what part of them is not realistic in Falcon? Also R-27Ts and ETs have a datalink in AF, which makes them unrealistically deadly, but thats a different story. I'll refrain from commmenting on SARH missiles since those are avoided by standard and realistic tactics. Pilotasso, what aspect of Falcon's missiles do think is modeled 'the wrong way'? I have never played against another human opponent. Quality of the units is nothing in the terms of extremely fast pace of Falcon's war - you barely have time to work with F-16 systems during air combat.Īnd when you have a product, that is easy to install, easy to patch, easy to apply upgrades, that works best with the latest hardware so you know, if you want to load a Tactical Engagement - it will load, as well as Campaign, Dogfight or any other mode - then I stay and stick with the product.Īs for other flyable aircraft in FF - they are not worth even looking at, as each one has the same F-16 physics.**Disclaimer: I have never played Red Viper, OF, or the original Falcon 4.0 in any form. I have tried an Open Falcon once and decided not to go in for any custom modifications any longer. I play with a Core 2 Duo E6600 and a GeForce 8800GS, with a resolution of 1280x1024, and I get about 50 FPS at the FLOT.F4AF is good for stability, but that's all. And check the quality of the units on the ground and the airplanes and the average FPS FreeFalcon has a very optimized graphic engine.

All patches, Hitiles, Ayes widescreen cockpits, widescreen loading and debriefing files are applied very easily with a simple installer.ĮricTerminator wrote:This comparison is also unfair, since there is a trick to install the HiTiles in FreeFalcon too, and if my memory is good, the Aeyes cockpits too. Sorry gyus, people pay for expensive hardware aiming for appropriate performance instead of self-assurances like "It is neverless the most realistic instead".Ģ. Read through Open Falcon forum, people are getting 15! fps with such graphics cards like ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 (!) while F4:AF pushes from the lowest of 37 and all the way up to 83 in maximum resolutions and maximum graphics settings.

You do not have do download something from you do not know where, and do not know when it will start crashing. It is the only one complete, official stock boxed simulation set on the market. To my opinion huge benefits of Falcon 4.0 Allied Force are:ġ. So, everything is relative and both F4:AF and other derivations of Falcon 4.0 are enough realistic for medium to high skilled simulation fans. As well as realism remarks, F-16 is a military combat aircraft so simulation makers can have diffirent views at what is real or not but do not know the actual reality. So your comparison of plain stock out of the box F4:AF and Freefalcon is not absolutely fair.

I don't understand those complaining about bad graphics of Falcon 4.0:Allied Force, in order to get really great graphics you need a good PC capable of running a 1650x1050 32 Bit or even bigger resolution, buy and install Hitiles, Aeyes widescreen cockpits for all flyable F-16s as well as widescreen loading/debriefing files.
